Edenvale's father and son strongman duo, Jimmy and Michael Masilela, have more than 20 years bodybuilding experience between them.
Jimmy, who is also a members of the Edenvale SAPS, started bodybuilding when he was in school and competed in his first competition in 1991.
Michael, a pupil at Edenvale High School, followed in his father's footsteps and started bodybuilding two years ago.
Both have found a role model in Arnold Schwarzenegger, but Michael says that his dad is also his bodybuilding role model.
Jimmy, who has been working on his body for 20 years on and off, says that bodybuilding helps him to release stress and keeps him physically fit.
He has been a member of the Edenvale SAPS for the past 14 years and says that being a bodybuilder helps with his job.
"I had to stop bodybuilding for three years due to a shoulder injury. In this time I lost form and gained weight," Jimmy said.
Jimmy has competed in many competition since he started bodybuilding but he recently outshone his SAPS competitors in the SAPS bodybuilding competition.
He says that none of his achievements would have been possible without the support of the Karamichael family, who have sponsored Jimmy's supplements.
Jimmy also says that he has his training partner Thys de Lange to thank.
His advice to youngsters who want to get involved in the sport is to stay in school and exercise regularly.
"It is also important to have the continued support of you family," Jimmy said.
Michael says that after two years of building his body up to be competition ready and training with his father, he could start competing in tournaments this year.
"My friends are cool with it," Michael said.
"I am very proud of Michael. He came third in the U/18 category of the championships recently," Jimmy added.
Both father and son train at the Ultimate Fitness Gym in Edenvale.
