BRAD MUIR from Glen Marais writes:

Can someone help me with information on getting a pre-paid meter installed in my house?

I am currently on the post-paid system billed via Ekurhuleni but think that althought the tariffs are the same, a pre-paid meter gives a visual of how much elictricity is being used and a great tool to educate children to conserve electricity.

I have sent numerous mails to the municipality and made a number of calls and got no response. I have trawled the web as well and nothing.

Mr Zweli Dlamini, metro spokesman, replies:

To retrofit from conventional to pre-paid costs R680. The resident may apply at the electricity department situated at the Len Futcher Building, 151 Plane Road, Spartan.

The applicant must have with him his account number.

For more information, call Martin Viviers on 011-999-3945 or Martin McLaren on 011-999-3918.
