Three locals were elected to serve on the Motsepe Foundation's Funding Committee board at a ceremony in Orlando East, recently.
Pastor Shaan Napier was elected chairperson of the Johannesburg Metrocity regions, Phyllis Malope was elected Secretary General and Reverend TFD Ntamo, Development Committee Chairperson.
Founded in 1999 by Patrice Motsepe, the Motsepe Foundation’s main aim is to improve the social and economic conditions of the poor, unemployed and marginalised people in the community.

With 11 regions under the trio, opportunities have been created for the underprivileged to improve their lives. R10 million has been allocated to different sectors for social development in ten different categories.
Two thousand projects are expected to be funded over a period of three to five years. Individuals are urged to draft up proposals and personally drop them off at the Lenasia offices. The proposals will then be assessed thoroughly and funded, if found legitimate.
The foundation’s offices are based at the Highpoint Building, 171, Rose Avenue, Ext 3, Lenasia. Their offices are open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 10am to 12pm and on Fridays, 9am to 11pm.
“Our people need to learn to see opportunities and grab them,” Pastor Shaan said.
