Roodepoort residents' refuse continues to pile up as the Pikitup Depot runs two days behind.

According to a community notice placed on the Pikitup website on 2 March, disruptions have been experienced in the collection of refuse over the past few weeks.

"These disruptions are due to temporary infrastructural problems relating to vehicles, as the current fleet management contract has come to an end. A new fleet contract is being put in place," reads the notice.

Pikitup Communications Manager, Pansy Oyedele, has confirmed that the Roodepoort  Depot is running two days behind schedule.

"The Depot confirms that there were several bins that might have not been emptied as a result of the delay in refuse collection schedule – thus we appeal to the residents to leave their bins outside," says Oyedele.

Oyedele reassures residents that Pikitup is doing all that they can to normalise the schedules, and will advice residents accordingly.
