Crazed arsonist sets 7 vehicles on fire

Two luxury cars were burnt to ashes while five other cars were partly burnt at Bessie's farm in Tarentaalrand in the early hours of Friday.

Tzaneen Cluster Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Moatshe Ngoepe said a Mercedes Benz sprinter mini bus and BMW were burnt beyond recognition while a Golf 4, two Nissan Sentra Sedans and two tipper trucks were partly burnt in a blaze started by an unknown suspects.

Noepe said the 34 year-old farm owner, who is a motor mechanic heard a noise outside around 01:00 and went outside to investigate.

'He found his cars on fire and saw a car driving away from his farm,' said Ngoepe.
Ngoepe said the damage to the cars is estimated to be about R795 000.

He said the motive for the incident is unknown and police have opened six counts of malicious damage to property for investigation.
